2. Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I discover a termite infestation?
When termites are discovered, you will typically notice traces such as mud tubes and termite trails. Termites can cause rapid and significant damage to the interior of a property. In such cases, please preserve the current state of the site and immediately seek the assistance of professionals. Avoid attempting to handle the situation yourself or using commercially available insecticides, as this may exacerbate the problem and lead to its spread to adjacent units. Do not disturb areas where termites are active or their nests. Moreover, if you are bitten by termites, you may experience allergic reactions such as redness and swelling. Please refrain from dismantling or discarding termite-damaged furniture that has not yet been properly treated.

Can I handle a termite infestation on my own or use an ant trap?
Effective termite control requires specialized knowledge, proper equipment, and the use of effective chemicals to ensure a thorough eradication. Ant traps are ineffective, and attempting to manage the infestation independently may worsen the issue and cause it to spread to other units. It is imperative that you seek professional assistance.

Should I remove parts of the structure that have been damaged by termites?
It is not recommended. The visible signs of termite presence suggest that their breeding activities and nests may have extended to other areas. Simply removing the visibly affected parts will not resolve the infestation, as termites may be concealed in areas that are not immediately apparent.

After termite extermination, can I return to the property? Is renovation necessary? Will there be a strong, harmful odor?
If the termite damage is not severe, the property may continue to be used as normal. However, if the damage is extensive, pest control measures may need to be implemented in coordination with a renovation contractor. Renovation work should only resume at least one month after the completion of the termite treatment. Additionally, any odor following the treatment is minimal—often barely noticeable—and the chemicals used are harmless to both people and pets.

How invasive are termites?
Termites typically operate within narrow cracks and crevices, infiltrating your home through wooden structures, and can even invade the building’s framework prior to renovation. The wooden elements within a property serve as a food source for termites and can lead to the deterioration of other common furniture materials. Properties that are damp, contain many wooden items, or have experienced water leakage or flooding are at a higher risk of termite invasion.

Is it necessary to undertake termite prevention measures before renovation?
The most effective strategy for termite prevention is to conduct pest control measures before, during, and after the renovation process. Discovering a termite infestation only after renovations have been completed can result in wasted time and financial resources.
